Getting a flood-damaged vehicle can put a damper on buying a used car. Fortunately, there are ways to tell. Sniff the interior for mold and mildew odors. Press a paper towel to the carpet and see if it comes up damp. Look for rust. Check that all the bulbs work. Take it to a professional service and repair technician. That’s the advice from the nonprofit Car Care Council. Its “Be Car Care Aware” campaign promotes regular vehicle maintenance.
