Recognizing Those Who Recycle Thursday, March 1, 2007 (NAPSA)—American consumers and businessesare recycling andit shows. Thanksto the dedication of millions of Americans who recycle on a daily basis, more than 53 percent of the paper consumed in the U.S. was recovered for recycling in 2006. While that’s a newrecord,it’s just a start. The industry has set a goal to recover 55 percent by 2012. Reaching that level requires the kind of commitment and dedication highlighted in an annual award program that is once again seeking applicants. The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) Recycling Awards will again recognize outstanding business, community, school-wide and university paper recycling efforts. Award winnerswill be flown to New York City for the Association’s 131st Annual Paper Week where they will receive a monetary prize and a piece of original paperart. In addition, winners will be featured in national and local media outlets and on the Web site www.paperrecycles.org. Thanks to a new partnership, the program will also be featured on a leading source for recycling information, www.Earth911L.org. Individuals engaged in successful business, community, school- wide and university paper recycling programs are encouraged to apply for one of the following: The Business Leadership Recycling Award; Thanksto the dedication of those who recycle on a daily basis, more than 53 percent of the paper consumedin the U.S. was recoveredfor recycling in 2006.
