A Search For Educational Visionaries Tuesday, March 1, 2005 A Search For Educational Visionaries (NAPSA)—Someof America’s most creative visionaries reside in its classrooms, and some leading technology companies are on a search to find them. Educators, administrators and staff can submit essays to Dell and Microsoft describing their vision for the future and how technology could transform education for their students. Selected by a national panel of experts on education and technology, three winning schools will each receive Dell technology and services and Microsoft software with approximate retail value of $250,000 to help them achieve their educational vision. Winners will have the opportunity to share their vision with key education stakeholders. “We are looking for big, exciting ideas—even things that might seem impossible,” said Scott Campbell, Dell’s vice president for K-12. “If you can dream it, we'd like to help you makeit a reality.” To enter the K-12 IT Visionary Contest, an entrant must be an educator, administrator or staff memberat a K-12 school in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. The contest is part of a larger program called FutureReady, in which Dell and Microsoft will award more than $1 million in technology and services to K-12 schools. In addition to the K-12 IT Visionary Contest, K-12 schools can participate in FutureReady in the following ways: XS Mobile Computer Lab Contest: The five schools with the most registrants on www.Future Ready.org each will win a mobile computer lab provided by Dell, Microsoft and Intel. Each lab has an approximate retail value of $10,000 and includes Dell note- book computers preloaded with Microsoft Windows XP Professional and other Microsoft software, a mobile cart, wireless access point and a Dell laser printer. Dell Intelligent Classroom Sweepstakes: Three schools will each win a Dell Intelligent Classroom, a technology-enabled class- room of the future featuring Microsoft education software, with approximate retail value of $75,000.
